The Village Fete

The Village Fete

This is an event that brings the whole community together. Although the primary purpose for holding the fete is to raise funds for the church, what is really at the heart of the event is a chance for villagers to spend a pleasant day together, enjoying the fun and games synonymous with a Village Fete.

Everyone contributes, each stall being run by different people often playing to their strengths; a plant stall for the green fingered, a second hand book stall for the bookworms, a cake stall for the great village bakers and a refreshment tent serving delicious cakes and teas and coffees to keep everyone fed and happy.

Some of the most successful fetes have also included a dog show, with some serious and some fun categories to appeal to all the dogs in the village!

Everyone pulls together for the fete, from the setup, on to the event itself and then the clear up, all done with an overarching wish to contribute to our wonderful community and spend time together.  And from memory the gods ‘always’ smile on the Ogbourne Parish Fete, because the sun ‘always’ shines and makes it a highlight of the village calendar.
